Yorkipoos and Children

Yorkipoos can bond well with older children; however, they often do not pair well with small children. Due to the Yorkipoo’s small size, he can easily be injured by energetic and excited children. It is not that a Yorkipoo cannot bond with young children, it is simply a safety and comfort concern for the dog.

While it may be cute to allow your Yorkipoo to sleep with your children, this should not be allowed. Remember, your Yorkipoo will remain small and delicate even when fully mature. Accidentally rolling over on top of your pup while sleeping is dangerous and could even be fatal.

Always teach your children to be gentle and kind, never pulling ears, hair, or tail. Show them by example the proper way to pet and handle your Yorkipoo so that they understand how to safely handle him. No matter how friendly and trustworthy your dog is, never leave a child and dog alone unattended. This is for the safety of both the child and the dog.
